Urolithin A is a natural metabolite that is produced by gut bacteria from ingested foods rich in ellagitannins and ellagic acids, such as pomegranates and walnuts. However, only able 40% of people can naturally make Urolithin A from dietary precursors. Urolithin A has demonstrated anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antioxidant, and anti-aging effects. It enhances cellular health by increasing mitophagy (i.e. removing damaged mitochondria from cells) and mitochondrial function. Several pre-clinical studies have shown that Urolithin A may protect against age-related conditions affecting the muscle, brain, and joints. Urolithin A may be used to revitalize the mitochondria, boost energy, decrease inflammation, improve heart health, decrease symptoms related to irritable bowel syndrome and celiac disease, support cellular health, decrease weight, and improve muscle function and muscle endurance.
